On Rodriguez’s helmet there is a graffitti: “It’s me and you, God. Right?” On Lerner’s helmet I spotted “Time is on my side”, and “Hell sucks” on Rhah’s. All those lines come from Michael Herr’s Dispatches. “Time is on my side” was also used in FMJ if I remember right. Herr co-wrote FMJ, so the last is no surprise. As for Platoon, the book was surely an obligatory reading in Dale Dyes “class”.
